Symptoms of EGID  

There are numerous symptoms of EGID and they can present individually or in any number of variations.   Symptoms shown by individuals include:

  • Nausea and/or Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea  
  • Failure to thrive (poor growth and/or weight loss)
  • Abdominal or chest pain
  • Reflux
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Constipation
  • Poor appetite
  • Bloating
  • Anemia
  • Blood or Mucus in stools
  • Malnutrition
  • Poor Sleep patterns
  • Joint pain

All of the above are recognised symptoms from Cincinnati Centre for Eosinophilic Disorders.   In addition to these, there are   more reported by children in the UK, these are not medically recognised but seen by numerous parents:

  • Sore Throat
  • Mouth Ulcers
  • Fatigue / Lethargy

None of the symptoms shown above are exclusive to EGID.   Eosinophilic disorders can mimic many of the symptoms of other diseases, because of this diagnosis can take a long time and is a painstaking process of elimination.
